We have always thought that the welfare represents an advantage for everybody, employee or employer. The employee wants big income, a decent life and the employer a business numbers as profitable as possible.
Beyond the communist years, when we all had a job through the goodwill of the unique party, nowadays the situation is completely different. We have all passed through different stages:
-in the communist stage we all had a job, either it was called the plants Republic, Furniture Factory Pipera, etc. We all worked, more or less, but we could say we had a job. Let’s remember the famous quote: “They pretend to pay us and we pretend we work”
-the next stage is the one after the revolution. This period, meaning till 1997, 1998, is represented by the need of superior studies. Otherwise you wouldn’t have entered the plans of the boss, so we were told to go and study, in order to have a job. Therefore, we all did follow the courses of a college, especially a private one, because it had no matter what diploma you had. It was important for you to have it.
-the third stage is the one we’re living nowadays. We can stay it’s a difficult stage, beyond the implication of politics. What’s more obvious now is that the firms and companies are no longer interested in diplomas. Employers have started refusing entreaties from family and friends who ask for a job, but they look towards companies that deal with evaluating and recruiting people. The time when knowing someone was enough is gone. Employers need quality and value.
